Momentum Arts

Momentum Arts  (UK)

Passionate about creativity, diversity and inclusion, Momentum Arts is a catalyst for social change. We engage, inspire and connect people and communities in the East of England through creative arts projects.

Momentum Arts works with socially engaged artists and diverse communities to create and deliver exciting and innovative art projects. Our dynamic approach to the arts and creative learning helps to stimulate creativity and enrich the experience of people and communities. We believe the arts to be a powerful tool with which to provide valuable learning opportunities for everyone we work with. We support all of our participants on their own journey to take part, learn new skills and explore and realise their own potential.

Momentum Arts works with the creative arts in the areas of Diversity and Inclusion and Regeneration both in the East of England and at an international level.

Momentum Arts are partners in the Volunteering into Employment Team East for Skills programme.  This three year programme has seen Momentum Arts engage with nearly 350 participants providing workshops, training, IAG and mentoring. Aimed at unemployed people (aged 16 or over) the programme aims to offer an alternative to more conventional careers guidance employing a more person centred approach and using sport and creative arts as tools to initiate discussion and personal development.

Many of our projects involve working with ‘at risk of exclusion’ young people (13-16). Via our various projects we have engaged with an estimated 4,000 young people since 1995 introducing them to a varied programme of arts activity. The use of the creative arts together with our people centred approach means that the young people we engage with do not only learn new artistic skills but also gain in confidence and enjoy raised levels of self esteem.

Momentum Arts are key players in the Deloitte Street Child World Cup and managed and delivered an arts programme that ran concurrently to the inaugural football tournament in Durban, South Africa in March 2010. This international event saw 8 teams of street children from the participating countries fly to Durban to take part in a football tournament and arts programme that would serve to raise the profile of both the project and the estimated 150 million street children worldwide. Momentum Arts are excited to be heavily involved in the next tournament in Brazil 2014.

Momentum Arts values the opportunity to disseminate learnings from all of our project delivery. Our 15 years experience in creating and delivering innovative arts projects has fed in various handbooks and dissemination toolkits which we aim to use as advocacy for other projects and products focussing on diversity and inclusion and regeneration.
